Founder + CEO
Hunter formed the Kingfisher team in 2022. He noticed that many homeowners find it difficult to make a clear decision about clean energy. Kingfisher offers practical but analytically thoughtful heat pump advice and designs that address home energy problems.Hunter earned his PhD at Dartmouth College in 2021 and concluded his academic career at Dartmouth as a Research Scientist in the Thayer School of Engineering. He remains a Research Fellow, where he continues to works with researchers on applied home energy problems.
Hunter holds an EPA 608 license, has the highest levels of heat pump manufacturer electrical service diagnostic training, and he also posses a BSP certification from the Building Performance Institute.
Although Hunter conducts the majority of Kingfisher’s in-house energy modeling, and he is also on-site for all installations.

Senior Ductwork Specialist
Dean is Kingfisher’s ductwork expert. He is originally from New Britian, Connecticut, and moved to Vermont in 2024 to be closer to family. Dean is a second-generation sheet metal worker with over 50 years of experience designing, fabricating, and installing residential and commercial ductwork. For nearly twenty years, Dean owned and operated a successful sheet metal ductwork business with over twenty skilled tin knockers and sheet metal fabricators.

Senior HVAC Technician (Oil and Gas Fitting Specialist)
Nicholas is Kingfisher’s Senior HVAC Technician. He is a Licensed Oil and Gas Fitter and has over 14 years of experience in HVAC service and management. He is especially knowledgeable when it comes to integrating legacy fossil fuel heating systems with high performance heating and cooling systems.

Business Systems & Technology Specialist
Daniel is Kingfisher’s Business Systems and Technology Specialist. He is responsible for identifying and eliminating inefficiencies in our processes, enhancing communication and efficiency between our teams and our clients, and importantly, ensuring that our teams have the necessary materials and supplies to maintain their workflow.
Daniel holds the affectionate nickname of waterspider. The term water spider is widely used in lean manufacturing. The water spider has the remarkable ability to move swiftly between water and air. The water spider's movement mimics the beetle's agility, emphasizing the importance of speed, responsiveness, and widespread familiarity with all of Kingfisher’s operations.

Sheet Metal Worker
Trevor is Kingfisher’s Sheet Metal Worker. Working closely with Dean, our ductwork specialist, he is responsible for ducted systems installations. He is a Vermont licensed gas fitter and oil technician, and he holds his Journeymen Plumbing license in the state of Vermont.

Electrical Engineer
Joshua is Kingfisher’s electrical engineer. He is responsible for research and development projects employing CAD, circuit design, and controls. He earned his PhD in Engineering in 2021 from Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth.

Human Resources Specialist
Kathy is Kingfisher’s Human Resources Specialist. She has over twenty years of experience building great teams and developing small businesses. She is originally from Hamilton, New Jersey, and when she is not in the office, she enjoys traveling abroad to visit her grandchildren.

Project Manager, Maintenance and Service
Evan is Kingfisher’s point person and subject matter expert on maintenance and service. He holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Human Resources from Keiser University and is a decorated US Army Veteran. Before joining Kingfisher, he worked in several management and leadership roles in both the automotive and HVAC industry.
